Curriculum Vitae in Brief:

Prof. Mohammed S. Rajab, the 1st Vice Chancellor of Pwani University was officially installed  during the 1st graduation ceremony of Pwani University on 28th November, 2013. This followed his appointment by the Cabinet secretary in-charge of Education mid this year as the VC of Pwani University. The Chairman of the University council Prof. Francis Sang, on behalf of the council read a brief about Prof. Rajab  and then presented him to the Chancellor Dr. John Simba for the Installation.
Prof. Mohamed S. Rajab, is a Professor of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Pwani University. He has a BSc in Chemistry (1st Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi and a PhD Organic Chemistry from the University of Maine (1988) - USA.
He started his career as a researcher at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in 1982. After completing his Ph.D in Chemistry in 1988, he worked as a research scientist at the SouthWestern Medical Centre in Dallas Texas undertaking research on the synthesis of bioactive molecules focusing on cholesterol derivatives used for cholesterol receptor studies.
Prof Rajab took up appointment as a Lecturer in Moi University, Department of Chemistry in 1989. During his tenure at Moi University, he held various administrative positions including Chairman of Department; Dean of Faculty and was the first Principal of Chepkoilel Campus.
In 1997, he spent time in the U.S.A as a Senior Fulbright Research Fellow at the University of Louisiana, Baton Rouge.
In 1999, he was appointed by the then Head of State, as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Administration in Kenyatta University. As Deputy Vice Chancellor he participated in the development of various policy documents during the period between 1999 to 2007.
In 2007, Prof. Rajab became the Principal of the University College. Since then to the time he took the VC position, Prof.Rajab, has instituted a  systematic plan of activities to develop academics and infrastructure of the university in-line with its Strategic Plan 2010-2020.
In his acceptance speech after the intallation, Prof. Rajab thanked the, Chancellor, chairman of council, staff and students for their support. He promised to use all possible means to  transform Pwani University to a world class institution of higher learning.
