About
Pwani University

Pwani University is more than just a place of learning - it’s a vibrant community set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kilifi’s coastline. Located about 60 km north of Mombasa and right next to the Indian Ocean, our 239-hectare campus blends natural beauty with academic excellence, creating an inspiring environment where students can thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Founded in 2007 as a constituent college of Kenyatta University, Pwani University was built on a mission to “provide quality education, training, research, and innovation for the advancement of the individual and society.”

In 2013, we proudly became a Chartered University, and today we welcome a lively student body of over 10,000 learners who bring energy, diversity, and creativity to our community.

Life at Pwani University is enriched by the coastal culture - warm weather, sandy beaches, and a welcoming spirit that makes every student feel at home. Beyond academics, students enjoy a vibrant campus life filled with clubs, sports, cultural events, and opportunities to connect with the local community.

Our teaching and research embrace innovation and technology, with Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) opening doors for flexible, inclusive education. We are committed to preparing graduates who are not only skilled professionals but also compassionate leaders ready to make a difference in Kenya and beyond.
