A Brief on Prof. Muniru Tsanuo, PhD

Prof. Muniru K.  Tsanuo is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Pwani University. He is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research and Extension. He has a PhD and MSc Chemistry from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Kenyatta University respectively and B.Ed (Sc,) 2nd upper class Honors) from Kenyatta University. He been lecturing and conducting research since 1992; and has held administrative positions (Chairman of Chemistry Department (JKUAT); Dean of School of Pure and Applied Sciences; Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor at Pwani  University, Kenya. Has successfully supervised a number of Masters and PhD students. Prof Tsanuo was part of the team that developed the Strategic Plans and University Statues for Pwani University.  His research interests include isolation and characterization of bioactive natural products, phytoremediation and plant-plant chemical interaction.  He has attended and presented scientific papers at learned conferences and workshops, and published more than 15 papers in refereed journals.
